Attending the Deaf Culture & Basic Sign Language workshop was a deeply eye-opening experience. As someone who naturally relies on body language to express myself, I found a meaningful parallel in learning sign language. It provided me with a genuine understanding of Deaf culture, showing that sign language is not merely a tool for communication, but a rich, expressive language driven by facial expressions, subtle movements, and unique cultural identity. Learning the foundational signs completely sparked my passion for pursuing sign language further, and it reinforced the importance of building an inclusive, accessible society.

The Ambassador Programme's first Workshop on Deaf Culture and Basic Sign Language was an eye-opening and deeply enriching experience. Beyond learning practical foundational signs, the session fostered a profound appreciation for Deaf culture, etiquette, and the daily communication barriers faced by the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The facilitators created an engaging, interactive environment that encouraged hands-on practice and shifted our perspective from viewing deafness as a disability to recognizing it as a vibrant, distinct linguistic and cultural identity. This workshop is an essential step toward building a truly inclusive campus, and I left feeling much more equipped and inspired to champion accessibility in our community.
